Tottenham Hotspur should make an attempt to land West Ham United forward Javier Hernandez in this summer’s transfer window.
What’s the word, then?
Hernandez has scored five times in 16 appearances for West Ham this season.
On the face of it, that is not a bad record, particularly when considering that the striker has spent time on the sidelines through illness and injury.
Hernandez has missed West Ham’s last four games with a back problem, but has managed three goals in his last five Premier League appearances.
The 30-year-old’s future at the London Stadium is far from secure, however, with his contract due to expire at the end of next season.
Sport have linked Barcelona with a move for Hernandez, but Tottenham should attempt to sign the striker from their bitter rivals at the end of the campaign.
Why should Tottenham make a move?
Hernandez has proved throughout his career that he is a goalscorer, managing 59 in 158 games for Manchester United, and 39 in 76 matches for Bayer Leverkusen.
The forward also netted nine times in 33 games for Real Madrid and his overall record since arriving at West Ham is 13 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.
It would be difficult for Tottenham to convince West Ham to do business when considering the rivalry between the two teams.
Money talks, however, and Spurs should attempt to agree a price which suits both clubs.
Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…
Hernandez, who is Mexico’s all-time leading scorer with 50, has found it difficult to show his best form since arriving at West Ham.
The 5ft 9in ace would thrive at Tottenham, however, and might well be the perfect player to supplement Harry Kane in the final third of the field.
