According to Football Insider, Leeds have set their sights on a move for Liverpool’s Ryan Kent. However, there is a player already at the club, albeit temporarily, that Marcelo Bielsa should focus on instead.
What’s the word?
Football Insider understands that Leeds are eying a move for Rangers loanee Kent who has shone at times for the Scottish side under Steven Gerrard.
It’s not known whether the Whites’ interest is to take the player on loan or permanently but his future in Merseyside does look to be in doubt.
Back in March, the Express reported that Liverpool wanted upwards of £12m if he were to depart the club.
Kent has already had a host of loan spells away from his parent club, featuring for Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City on a temporary basis.
Forget about Kent
Leeds should forget about all intentions they may have of making a move for Kent. At £12m there is surely better value out there and if they achieve promotion to the Premier League they’ll have to be shrewd in the signings they make. Kent for that price would not be good business at all.
The 22-year-old has impressed at Rangers in scoring six goals but for the price, you’d ideally want someone who has a bit more end product in them.
Instead, they must focus their attention on making Jack Harrison a permanent part of the furniture at Elland Road.
The Manchester City man signed on loan for Leeds last summer and has been a major part of the squad that’s bidding for promotion.
Despite struggling at times this season there is clear promise in the player and it’s likely he’d be a cheaper alternative too.
Harrison’s performance against Wigan on Good Friday was particularly poor and won’t have pleased Leeds fans, but it would be harsh if he was to be forgotten about because of one display.
After all, he scored against Sheffield Wednesday in the match before and the positives must be focused on, rather than the negatives.
