Were it not for Swansea City’s current league standing of 18th place, Gylfi Sigurdsson would be well and truly in the running for the PFA Player of the Year award.
Some might argue the Welsh outfit’s relegation-bound limitations should put him in the mix anyway; despite the Swans being two points away from safety, the Iceland international has produced the joint-most assists of any Premier League player this term, eleven, alongside eight goals.
Whether or not Swansea avoid the drop with just six games to go, it seems more than likely the one-time Tottenham midfielder will by plying his trade at another club next season. The Times claim Everton will make another move for Sigurdsson in the next transfer window, after failing to acquire his services last summer.
But with the likes of Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas and Tom Davies all performing well this season, is there actually room for Sigurdsson in Everton’s middle-to-final-third? Could he take the club forward and add a new dynamic to the Toffees’ attack, or does he represent potentially money poorly spent?
