Deadline Day was a bit of a disaster for Arsenal, missing out on Monaco forward Thomas Lemar in a shock £92million deal, begrudgingly selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool and failing to agree Alexis Sanchez’s departure – meaning the Chile international will almost certainly leave the club for free at the end of the season.
But the summer transfer window as a whole has been somewhat more positive. It started incredibly brightly with early deals for new star striker Alexandre Lacazette and beastly defender Sead Kolasinac, and although Arsenal failed to add to that cohort over the following weeks, Arsene Wenger did manage to shift a whole host of deadwood – including the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Perez.
