Jose Mourinho delivered the League Cup and Europa League title to Manchester United in his first season and now he has his sights on something much bigger.
The Red Devils’ assault on the Premier League title begins at home against Slaven Bilic and West Ham United. The clubs drew 1-1 in the corresponding fixture last season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic earning United a point after West Ham took a second minute lead.
The Red Devils’ first big game of the season is a 14 October trip to Anfield. The rivals drew both meetingslast season and only scored one goal apiece, so fans from both sides will be hoping for a more exciting game.
Morinho and his lads travel to his former stomping ground Stamford Bridge to kick off November before hosting the Manchester Derby a little over a month later. United fell 4-0 at Chelsea and 2-1 when hosting City last season, so those two games represent a great chance to reverse fortunes from a year ago.
Burnley, who won only once away from home last campaign, visit Old Trafford on Boxing Day after losing 2-0 last season. On New Year’s Day, the Red Devils travel to Goodison Park, where they (surprise, surprise) drew 1-1 last season.
Mourinho will be looking to improve his and ruin his rivals title chances when Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp come to visit Old Trafford in February and March, respectively.
A trip to the Etihad Stadium in April kicks off the final stretch of the season, which ends for United fans with a home match against Watford.
